Review of Barney's Version (2010) by Geoffrey T — 11 Apr 2012
This is a messy lovely movie. You feel it all the way through, and you follow it on its unwarranted meanderings and random little subplots. It's not a cohesive whole, partly because it's told in flashbacks.
It's an ambitious film because of how many ideas it takes on, but the actors keep it grounded. It's really sad, and it makes you think, and it's pretty funny. Who cares if it's not totally unified? Here's to good acting and thoughtful writing, messy as it may be.
