Review of Barefoot (2014) by Frank N — 18 Apr 2014
This is a very, very bad movie with a good actress. Evan Rachel Wood is so cute, so innocent as she plays her character Daisy that it becomes very creepy when she's taken along by a rich boy to meet his parents.
It would have been nice if Daisy wasn't a bit mentally askew. She was living with her abusive mother for a long time and ended up in a mental hospital for killing her. The creep factor sets in very fast when Jay comes up with the "great" idea of making her his "girlfriend".
Since she has the mental ability of a 7 year old and being taken advantage of on top of that, Daisy and Jay's little adventure turns into a forcible romance that must have been written by a teenage boy (or some twentysomething who gets off on the oh so innocent girls).
It's bizarre and weird and not in that good way. I'd say skip it unless you're a fan of Evan Rachel Wood. Otherwise, RUN!
