Review of Barbie (2023) by Dharma2 — 21 Jul 2023
The Barbie movie may not be the best blockbuster this summer but it is an eccentric, surreal breath of fresh air amongst this summer’s offerings. Essentially an indie movie with a much higher budget, the fact that Mattel would actually greenlight this script is a miracle by itself.
Yet here it is with its sharp commentary and weird sequences, disguised as your run of the mill blockbuster. This movie, along with MI Dead Reckoning and Oppenheimer are clearly the best movies of this summer and provide us an escape from the mind numbing superheroes flicks as of late.
