Review of Barbarian (2022) by Horrorsnob222 — 18 Sep 2022
I’m starting to think the only reason this movie scored so high among modern day movie goers is because a man gets accused of a sexual crime and is forced to pay real consequences of a potentially fake accusation.
It had such a good chance of being a proper horror from the build up in the beginning between characters, but swiftly flooded away into horror tropes that have no place in anything attempting to break ground into new frontiers.
All this movie did was take the safe route of dark roomed “who’s theres?” Coupled with the safety of day. Back and forth back and forth. The good news is you get to see the famed horror movie nipple, but the bad news is it’s attached to a C-grade hills have eyes character who is shoving it in Justin longs mouth.
As if to add cinematic irony to the seasoned horror movie snob, it wraps up with Justin long getting his eyes crushed in and head split in half which is what I felt like I went through giving this movie every chance to turn around until I, too, died of head splitting boredom and unsatisfactory time wasting.
The best part about this movie was when the credits start rolling and you can check your ID and remember you had nothing to do with the creating of this film.
