Review of Barbarella (1968) by Amber A — 05 Jun 2009
The opening scene is a zero-G strip tease in a spaceship whose every interior surface is covered in shag carpet. Nuff said. This film embodies the 60s in the way Flash Gordon embodies the 70s-- the two stand alone in a realm of classic scifi weirdness that nothing else can touch.
I know an awful lot of people whose only exposure to this one has been in soundless clips and snippets projected on walls at clubs-- believe me, you can't imagine what you're missing.
