Review of Barbarella (1968) by James P — 09 Nov 2008
Hilarious in a camp kind of way, incorporating all the sci-fi clichés with a generous dollop of sexiness on top. The special effects are good by the standards of 1968 but with today's outstanding CGI, they look a bit clumsy.
The story is weak, the acting even worse; due to her lithesome figure, Jane Fonda got noticed in this movie, but she put in much better performances in other films. Barbarella is of historical interest, but has little else going for it.
