Review of Barbara (2012) by Peter F — 28 Jan 2013
A film about Iron Curtain-erea Germany, that adopts a minamalist style to fairly eerie effect. Nina Hoss is indeed mesmerizing, as a Berlin doctor who is constantly under watch, and the film's script nicely ties all of the sub-plots together.
A little shallow in some areas though, which keeps me from agreeing with critics that are calling it one of the best German films of the decade.
