Review of Baraka (1992) by Bryan W — 28 Feb 2009
Beautiful without being a breakthrough, any admission that this film was interesting and moving must essentially credit it as a remake of Koyaanisqatsi with broader scope and different music. To watch it in that light is to undercut the value of the images, but those who see its spiritual ancestor after this tend to find it flat, boring, and ethnocentric by comparison when this film would not exist without it.
