Review of Bandslam (2009) by Cikgu J — 16 Feb 2010
Music in movies has always been a great combination. Bandslam brings to the table a new mix for the usual teenage music scene. The movie has a good combination of laughs, romance and serious topics as well as great songs and music.
The movie plays out like a teenage film but it blocks out all the usual clichés and humiliation teens undergo. It has a good story and the cast does well to really bring out their characters real emotions.
Aly and Vanessa makes the rehearsals and live performances legit and more believable because of their singing background. Bandslam is probably one of the best music-com that is centred on teens. It has good camera movement and film editing.
Itâ??s funny and heart-breaking at times and itâ??s filled with songs for our age as well as an unusual ending. I give 8 out 10.
