Review of Bandits (2001) by Benoit B — 26 Nov 2008
This movie should have been great; or at least it could have. The cast is brilliant (Thornton at its best, Blanchett is luminous and Willis finds a perfect balance here), it's superbly photographed and has a nice script.
The trouble is we're never sure if it's a comedy, a drama or a police/action film. The director cannot seem to find the right tone so he keeps switching from one to an other. We go from one good scene to another without feeling there is any connection between them.
What a waste of good material...
