Review of Balto (1995) by Julia G — 05 Jul 2008
A very good animated movie, if not one of the last great traditionally animated movies. It's probably hands down my favorite animated movie of all time. The animation was great, the voice-acting was top notch and used sparringly well, and the soundtrack by James Horner was fantastic (I'm stoked I finally got it on my iPod.
). For some reason, the dialogue and the use of colorful characters reminded me fondly of an Akira Kurosawa flick. I'm a fan of Jack London stories, and this movie really reminded of The Call of the Wild, my favorite book.
If you've never seen the movie, go out and rent it as soon as possible or watch it on YouTube. This is just a great animated movie :D.
