Review of Baghead (2008) by Jonas J — 30 Dec 2008
Mumblecore goes horrorcore, this odd indie film is one part talky gen-x indie flick, one part "friday the 13th" and a whole lot of meta. a film about a group of actors who go to a secluded cabin for the weekend to write a film about a murderous, lurking killer who wears a bag on his head only to be stalked by a mysterious, lurking killer with a bag on their head.
..or are they? the duplass brothers (who made, in my opinion, the great, definitive mumblecore film "the puffy chair") manage to shake up horror conventions with experimentation and improv and actually pull of some genuinely scary moments.
