Review of Baghead (2008) by Darren H — 26 Aug 2009
Baghead has been on my radar since I saw Young@Heart at an arthouse theater in Tennessee last summer, and I recently bought it as part of the beautiful 4-for-$20 deal at Blockbuster. Finally got around to watching it, and I definitely wasn't disappointed.
As a love letter to low-budget horror films, Baghead is a resounding success by combining the bare-bones scares with knowing laughs and even a healthy dose of relationship drama. The unknown actors are completely convincing and genuine in their roles, and their terror is palpable.
While it's billed mainly as a comedy, I was scared out of my wits at a few parts. Extremely effective film-making.
