Review of Bagdad Cafe (1987) by Vanessa L — 29 Mar 2007
Cast: Marianne Sägebrecht (Jasmin), CCH Pounder (Brenda), Jack Palance (Rudi Cox), Christine Kaufmann (Debby).
I have watched this movie numerous times, and it never falls to entertain me. From the haunting theme song ?Calling You? to the triumphs at the end of the movie, I know that I will continually watch this over the years. .
Jasmin has a row with her husband and takes off, and finds herself at a truck-stop café. Jasmin decides to stay on at the motel, and in turn meets and ultimately befriends Brenda, Rudi and Debbiy. Jack Palance is wonderful as a quirky ex-set decorator who is fascinated by Jasmine and wants to paint her; with or without clothes..

It's almost as if the other characters have used the desert has a "hide away from the world" pit stop..
