Review of Bagdad Cafe (1987) by Joseph K — 21 May 2011
What a strange movie. reminds me of Repo Man in how strange the movie is. weird... mixed bag of eccentric people are gather together in the desert middle of nowhere called Bagdad, CA. This German tourist woman has a fight with her husband and get a room at the Bagdad Cafe run by this black woman who is also having difficulties with her husband.
Cafe owner has a son who plays Bach all day on the piano, a daughter who is very popular with all kinds of guys, and a baby. The German woman can't stand how dirty the place is and she decides that she's going to clean up the entire place.
From here, she gets involved in all aspects of life with the people involved in this place for the better. Jack Palance plays a hollywood set designer dressed in pink and a head band. hilarious as it is strange.
