Review of Bagdad Cafe (1987) by Wut S — 27 Oct 2007
Horrendously, the film festival where I watched this masterpiece lost the print and screened the DVD instead, resulting in a bad lighting and contrast. Nevertheless, the hearts of the film and the non-visually translated style captured me. I love when filmmaker knows how to exaggerate lousiness into flair.
About a fat Bavarian lady turning a crummy truck-stop motel into a magic extravaganza (that puts Las Vegas to shame!) and helps the people who owns the place out of their crisis. Directed in English by a German.
Charming, whimsical, and on top, the film's got satires that challenge socially and culturally.
