Review of Bagdad Cafe (1987) by Adam E — 14 Apr 2009
Stylish and atmospheric cult movie which does very well to build up a feeling of isolation and loneliness but which ultimately is let down by an easy, almost childish sense of humour and a gratingly optimistic ending.
The writing lacks bite and maturity but it remains a visually appealing watch to this day. Worth watching if only to see Jack Palance's hippy artist.
