Review of Bad Words (2013) by Laurent P — 24 Jun 2014
Another case of all the best jokes are in the trailer. Jason Bateman is highly unlikeable, but hilarious, throughout. But you do understand his motives for going into the spelling bee. At 90 minutes it did feel a little too long which is a bad thing, as comedies should never drag on.
But saying that its the nasty put downs that Bateman delivers with excellent comedic timing and a flat tone that makes this watchable, if not predictable. Maybe worth a watch if you're a fan of Bateman if not, there is nothing here that will change your mind about him.
Good but could've been so much funnier.
