Review of Bad Words (2013) by Daniel P — 15 Aug 2014
Over the top dark humor make this showcase for Jason Bateman the year's best comedy by far. Bateman's character, Guy Trilby, participates in the Golden Quill Spelling Bee after he finds a loophole in the rulebook.
At first his motives seem unclear: taunting other 12 year old contestants and riling up the parents and those in charge of keeping the prestigious name of the Golden Quill intact. But, as the movie moves along, you discover he has a legitimate reason to be there, also making it a touching comedy along with unbearably outrageous bad words.
