Review of Bad Samaritan (2018) by Pamela N — 04 May 2018
Very tense and suspenseful, I was still buzzing after I got home. This film hits it out of the park as a psychological thriller with some horror-like elements (plenty of jump scares for those who like them).
Personally I care a lot about diversity in casting and I feel like they made a good choice in casting Carlito Olivera as a lead and pairing him unexpectedly with an Irish immigrant best friend. David Tenant was so convincingly terrifying that now when I see him in other contexts I think he's just hiding his evil side - it seemed that real.
I did not like the film's opening, I think that particular scene could have been introduced later without hurting the plot. To stay spoiler free I will just say that the type of violence shown in the opening is a huge turn off for me.
Other than that, I thought this was a great movie.
