Review of Bad Moms (2016) by Dave V — 04 Sep 2016
Ah, a movie that portrays strong female characters and shines a light on some of the inconsiderate d-bags that is the trait of too many men. After watching the trailer, I was prepared to laugh, what I wasn't prepared for was the amazing acting for many of these actors. Mila was adorable and relatable, as she is in every role she's had, but Christina Applegate is more believable in this movie than any role I've seen her in since Kelly Bundy. Kristen Bell is lovable as heck, even for the girl next door type she always is, and who could have ever believed that Jada Pinkett-Smith could pull of the uppity suburban mom so dead on perfectly? As for Kathryn Hahn, well, I've never seen her in any role where she doesn't steal every scene she's in. One of the best comic actors of our time,.
For those complaining about the weak male characters, guess what guys? I know many of these idiots and that is a pretty accurate portrayal of how self-centered and inconsiderate a man can be. If you can't laugh at how stupid these guys are, might be time to look in a mirror.
But my loudest praise goes to Oona Laurence. This young lady turned in a performance that easily rivaled, if not overshadowed, all of the major stars. Look forward to seeing lots of her in the future.
After watching the trailer, I was fully prepared to laugh watching this movie, but I didn't expect to be moved, and I really didn't expect to wipe away a few tears. This is one of the best movies I have seen recently, and the funniest comedy I have seen since Step Brothers.
