Review of Bad Moms (2016) by Damian S — 19 Sep 2018
This film is funny, in parts, and I enjoyed the chemistry between Kunis, Hahn, and Bell, but from the 2/3rds mark it lost me. The film seemed to judge the mothers for not being perfect as much as the mean moms did. The takeaway message seems to be "mothers have to be perfect 24/7, they aren't ever allowed to relax, fathers and husbands are useless and/or disinterested in their kids (except for the one single father who was treated like a god for doing the exact same things the mothers were doing for their children), and motherhood is some kind of contest you play against other mothers".
It's a cute movie, but could've been so much more positive and empowering.
