Review of Bad Lieutenant (1992) by Brendan P — 11 Apr 2009
Harvey Keitel's mesmerizing performance as a fascinatingly self destructive cop is an absolute shocker. The material Bad Lieutenant delves into is dense and potent, and it makes for a very stimulating film experience.
With a director at the helm with a stronger grasp of cinematic language, this film would have been much more effective. Moments in the film needed to be played quite a bit differently, and the frequent appearance of the Christ figure were totally out of place and flagrantly unnecessary.
