Review of Bad Education (2004) by Marijn M — 29 Sep 2009
This dark, twisted and ultimately tragic movie shows us Almodovar's genius. Although I wouldn't rate it higher than 'Talk to her' and 'All about my Mother', yet from its sheer storytelling brilliance, this movie is definitely amongst his best.
It begins as a tender coming-of-age story, interspersed with boarding-school flashbacks and gracefully merges into an intense thriller. What is also hard to disagree is the fact that acclaimed Gael Garcia Bernal is one of the best actors around, the charisma and the aura of mystery that he brings to the various roles essayed here are simply of another element.
