Review of Bad Day at Black Rock (1955) by Aj V — 05 Sep 2010
Though little action is seen and considerably short length (81 minutes), Bad Day at Black Rock maybe one of the finest examples of a film noir blended in with a "sort-of" western. It starts when Spencer Tracy, a mysterious World War II veteran arrives in the tiny California town of Black Rock.
The people find him a mystery right off the bat. However, Tracy has come to visit a Japanese man named Comoco (not sure if I spelled that right) and wants to know what has happened to him. He soon finds them mysterious, realizing that the person in which he wants to visit has been murdered.
A fine film, with great performances from, most specifically Spencer Tracy, and surprisingly, another good one from Ernest Borgnine (who one Best Actor that same year for Marty).
