Review of Bad Company (2002) by Jay L — 06 Sep 2010
Producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Joel Schumaker collaborate to deliver this slam bang, in your face action thriller to the silver screen. Schumaker brings out his inner Michael Bay as this film is explosively packed with humor, intense action, and suspence. It's a pulse pounder from start to finish, a trademark of all Bruckheimer productions. Bad Company is an espionage thriller action adventure comedy. The critics loathed this film, but enjoyed it, sure the acting isn't top notch and the story might come up a little short, but when it was all said and done I enjoyed it.
It stars Chris Rock as a punk straight off the streets, and the great Anthony Hopkins as a hardened spy. Rock's irreverent humor did get kind of old towards the end, but Hopkins, as always, delivers some very fine acting. The action is non stop as the film features some over the top shootouts and some nerve fraying car chases. It delivers what action fans want humor, action, and thrills. Also features appearances by Peter Stormare and Matthew Marsh. Good movie.
