Review of Bad Boys II (2003) by Bill M — 21 Feb 2011
Bad boys 2 is "the" most shamelessly over the top action film ever made, bar none! it's ridicolous how massive and overblown this film is, it's the sort of film that is critic kryptonite, exactly the sort of film these jaded old farts love to hate, it's noisy, crass, seriously mean spirited, morally void, nasty, brutaly excessive and grusome in it's violence, foul mouthed and lavishes a the sort of money you could spend on buying a small island on no plot at all (something about drug dealers) sadistic and misoginistic and overall just about having a succesion of action scenes, each one attempting to the top the last by being even bigger and blowing way more stuff up.
These are all the things that make it great!(it's almost a work of genius in it's commitment to being compleatly shallow and overdone) It's a guilty pleasure, junk food binge of a film, the definative bloated, overindulged and excessive hollywood action film.
It feels so wrong, so evil and unpleasant, and yet so very right. The perfect six pack and kebab friday night in action flick.
