I liked this film a lot more after I found out that it was the director's response to Forrest Gump. As I am a girl - and quite a squeamish one at that - I wasn't really down with the cat-related abuse but the acting was just amazing, particularly from Nicholas Hope & I'd urge anyone else watching to stick with it through the first 30 minutes of grime because it will be worth the effort.
