Review of Backdraft (1991) by Ian R — 29 Jul 2009
This is a solid show. William Baldwin and Jennifer Jason Leigh are defintely the weak links in the cast; they are not the best leads for this film. However, the heavy hitters in the cast like Kurt Russell, Robert De Niro, and Donald Sutherland can make for them if you let them.
I especially enjoy Donald Sutherland's character; he's one of those characters that is very memerable despite their low amount of screen time (I liken him to the Train Ghost in Ghost). The story is pretty decent, and leads to a pretty classic climax in a chemical fire.
I also must tip my hat to the special effects in this film, because I know that they used real fire; it's pretty damn impressive. Overall, I think this show is great.
