Review of Backcountry (2015) by Michael E — 02 Sep 2015
Backcountry has that beautiful landscape and the wilderness as a couple is going on a hiking trail until they are being attacked from a bear. The horror film did have potential in being something good, and does have a nice set up, from the cinematography and the music.
As the couple encounter the bear in its second act, almost an hour into the movie. It drops the ball in being an effective thriller, from crazy camera movements to very long pauses and the characters making stupid mistakes.
Backcountry is boring, loses its momentum when the bear appears, and it was hard to even care for the characters.
