Review of Back to the Future Part II (1989) by Lee D — 11 Aug 2012
There's no denying this film had a bit of a rough start (I'm sure the filmmakers were kicking themselves for ending the first one the way they did), but once it gets going, it really gets going. Lines such as 'nobody calls me chicken' and the first scene with the almanac, as well as Marty's family supposedly going to jail feel a little too quirky, but they're humorous nonetheless.
The film's not as... earnest as the first installment, but it never had its mind set on being an imitation. Instead, it's a crazy thrill ride, with plenty of paradox-related suspense and a very interesting apocalyptic 1985, something I found myself paying a lot more attention to than the nice-looking 2015.
