Review of Back to the Future Part II (1989) by Alexander R — 15 May 2012
Obviously I wasn't alive when the first "Back to the Future" came out and even though I came into existence a year after the series ended, I had no idea that there were two sequels after I saw the first movie.
The second BTTF has the same feel as the first movie and the characters, humor, and dialogue are still great. Unlike the first movie however, it's not flawless. Having Marty get emotional when people call him chicken seemed to come out of no where. It wasn't addressed in the first movie and it's never explained why he doesn't like it in this movie. However it's not a large problem to bump it's rating down and it has a funny and clever resolution in Part III.
It still puts me in a good mood like the first and third movie does and while it's not on par with the first movie, it's still a great sequel. I am however bummed that the way 2015 is presented in this movie won't become reality; given the fact that it's 2012 and the economy is still climbing out of the hole the Republicans put us in, we aren't going to see flying cars, on the dot weather predictions, self lacing Nike's, self drying one size fits all jackets, "JAWS 19", Holomax, jail sentences that take only 2 hours after your arrest (wait maybe it's good that we don't have that), and of course hover boards.
Disclaimer: even if Bush hadn't ruined the economy I don't believe we were going to get all of those things anyway, but at least we there are attempts to make self laving shoes and hover boards; also like Doc said "the future is what ever you make it".
