Review of Bachelorette (2012) by Missmoney P — 03 Oct 2012

There are the kinds of movies with unlikable characters that are great. Those kind of movies can be great even if the unlikable characters never redeem themselves, but we have to at least be given a reason to root for them. We have to care about them. It doesn't mean we like them; just that we want them to suceed to move the plot along. "Bachelorette" is not one of those types of movies. "Bridesmaids" is a hilarious female-dominated comedy, and it is far superior to "Bachelorette," which doesn't deliver in ways that it should. This movie doesn't reach too far trying to be an even filthier version of "Bridesmaids." In fact, it had plenty of potential -- the actresses are perfect casting choices, and the supporting male cast is great too. Unfortunately, the three lead characters never redeem themselves, and we don't care about them one bit.

I only laughed once at this comedy, and the line was by the bride-to-be: "I'm so excited I could kill myself!".

Maybe I have a morbid, absurd sense of humor, but a couple more lines like that, and I may have given this an extra half-star.
