Review of Bachelorette (2012) by Saad K — 13 Aug 2012
Bachelorette - TRASH IT (C+).
Bachelorette is C class version of Bridesmaids and sadly it's not funny enough, not crud enough or not offensive enough. The movie not only lacks Bridesmaids humor and production value but also lack its talent. Even though Bachelorette nabbed some of the decent names like Kirsten Dunst, Lizzie Caplan, Isla Fischer, Rebel Wilson, Adam Scott and James Marsden but except for Kirsten Dunst none of the stars delivered a noticeable performance.
Kirsten Dunst Oscar snub on her brilliant portrayal of a bride on verge of breaking in "Melancholia" is still fresh in my mind. From there to entering a C grad comedy wedding movie is a letdown but I think it's not her fault that the movie turns out to be such a drag and other supposedly decent actors couldn't deliver one worth remembering scene in Bachelorette.
Isla Fisher has to be most overrated working Hollywood actress around. I just never imagined how bad of an actress she is actually. I always thought "Confessions of a shopaholic "was bad movie but now I'm 100% sure that it was so bad because it has Isla Fischer. The only thing I remember she ever did well was "Wedding Crashers" in which she only had to giggle and do Vince Vaughn. Lizzie Caplan is boring and her overacting is beyond tolerable. Rebel Wilson was wasted she just doesn't have good lines in it.
On the whole, Bachelorette is a mediocre movie and it's better to watch bridesmaids all over again.
