Review of Bachelorette (2012) by Jc E — 25 Apr 2013
This one kind of flew under the radar, I guess. The previews did make it out to be very much akin to the female version of 'The Hangover' despite coming a year after the brilliant 'Bridesmaids' basically stole that mantra.
However, this one is just as shenanigan-laced, if lacking in heart. Kirsten Dunst (Melancholia), Lizzy Caplan (Item 47), and Isla Fisher (Rise of the Guardians) make for a very fiery trio. When Rebel Wilson (Pitch Perfect) is the rational female of a group, you know it's crazy.
James Marsden ("30 Rock"), Adam Scott ("Parks and Recreation"), and Kyle Bornheimer (She's Out of My League) inject some testosterone into the flick in a way that 'Bridesmaids' didn't quite do, but the flick still comes up a bit short.
It's still women being women - with all the cattiness, backstabbing, and foot-in-mouth moments included. If you liked 'The Hangover' or 'Bridesmaids', you'll like this one too.
