Review of Bachelor Party (1984) by The Critic ( — 22 Oct 2012
Perfectly defining "crude 1980s comedy", 'Bachelor Party' is as orderly as any title event would be and does have a sense of rebellious fun about it. Although pushing the boundaries of taste when a donkey gets thrown into the mix (watching it overdose on a cocktail of drugs, however, is funnier than you'd initially think), there are some pleasing performances from Tom Hanks as the guest of honour, Wendie Jo Sperber as his uptight sister-in-law doctor, and a scene-stealing Bradford Bancroft as his drug-taking, suicidal friend.
By no means dignified entertainment, but then again, it never pretends to be.
