A couple of days ago while I was enjoying my TCM, I caught a movie that I have always enjoyed called, "Bachelor Mother". Even though this movie was made in 1939 it is way a head of it's time. The whole thing works on so many levels. Now this is a movie that should be released on DVD if it hasn't already (I can't seem to find it any where.). The cast which includes Ginger Rogers and David Niven are among a very talented cast who brought this script to life. The writing for this script is wonderful. "Bachelor Mother" is about this sales girl named Polly who comes upon a woman who is leaving her baby on an orphanages door step due to the woman is unable to provide for the baby. As Polly is trying to get the woman to keep her baby the orphanages' workers (I don't know what you call them) mistake her for the mother of the baby. Even though Polly protested at being the baby's mother, the orphanages' workers went to speak to her bosses at the department store. When the department store's owner's son gets involved that is when Polly is given a choice to either keep the baby and keep her job or loose her job. After so many protests from Polly at not being the baby's mother she finally gives in and makes up a story. This story is very entertaining on so many levels. I really enjoyed this movie. This is one of my favorite movies that Ginger Rogers made. I would suggest this movie to any one. Again I don't think this movie has been released on DVD, so I can't tell you if there are any special features. I think it needs to be though. Please see what you think..
