Review of Babylon A.D. (2008) by Sean E — 19 Feb 2011
I must admit I've ignored this for a while and regarded it as disposable but after watching it I have to admit I found it quite entertaining and efficient. The action was decent and the acting serviceable. Set in a semi interesting bleak future it pans out like a sci-fi version of The Transporter as Vin Diesel has to transport a special girl to New York. Outside of that premise the plot sort've loses its way with good set pieces strung onto a plot we can never fully care for. It's always good to see Vin Diesel play a badass no matter how clichà (C) it can be. There are a couple of neat ideas and Diesel is a likeable hero but not even he can save the film from an end that comes out of nowhere with no resolution.
Enjoyable but wasted opportunity, shame.
