Review of Babylon (2022) by Bertobellamy — 20 Jan 2023
You gotta accept that Damien Chazelle went all the way with this ambitious film. 'Babylon' has big ideas, and it doesn't care if they're uncomfortable, which I appreciate. My problem with it it's that the film gets lost within them.
The runtime is also an issue; all the Tobey Maguire stuff is weird and messy. Margot Robbie becomes annoying by the end, and Diego Calva is good, but he can't carry the movie by himself. All in all, a project with some good moments, but not enough to be more engaging.
