Review of Babes in Arms (1939) by James H — 10 Feb 2004
Filmed in the same year as the Wizard of Oz (1939), Judy Garland makes a reprise of the young girl looking to find something new. Instead of flying over a rainbow, this time she finds it in becoming a vaudeville star. Both she a Mickey Rooney give great performances and I really liked most of the musical numbers. Judy and Mickey could DANCE!
The plot is a little iffy, along with the corny screenplay, but hey it WAS made in 1939 and is about VAUDEVILLE, so what can I expect? I liked it.
