Review of Babe: Pig in the City (1998) by Alvin Y — 19 Sep 2010
I remember seeing â??Babeâ?? when I was a little kid and thinking at that time, HA! A talking pig in the TV. That movie was very inspiring, original, and most of all something to learn with the â??talkingâ?? pig. Now, I believe after like 10-15 years seeing the first film, I just had seen this mighty and much better sequel of the first â??Babeâ??. There are many things to say to this movie but I'll make this review very shortly and briefly by not mentioning everything that happen from start to end. You would of course think that Babe is in the city, yes that's what the title says. So, the pig would encounter some other animals and other people that would change their perspectives on each other. As film critics Roger Ebert and to the late Gene Siskel said that this is much better than the first one and most of all the best film of 1998 (as Siskel said), well I super agree to those opinions that they had.
Why do you think they made a sequel to that 1995 movie? I think because the director wants to show us something that this pig would do outside of the farm either good or bad. And well, it did somehow, I was very happy and mostly smiling most of the time while watching from start to end. So, â??Babe: Pig in the Cityâ?? is truly a wonderful picture, though some scenes shown are not suitable for children, still adults even children would appreciate this film and the meaning of it. Also as I said earlier, film critic Gene Siskel said this was the best movie of 1998, meaning this was the last best movie that he had seen before he died in 1999, so this movie is dedicated to him.
