Review of Babe: Pig in the City (1998) by Grant S — 31 Mar 2011
Darker than the original, and not as interesting, this still has its moments. Still mostly very sweet and feel-good.
The original was paced very well and never got boring. This has inconsistent pacing, and seemed to run out of ideas about half way, degenerating into meaningless action/slapstick.
On the plus side, the special effects, esp the talking animals, are excellent. The dialogue is often sharp, especially that of the chimpanzees. Plus, there is the sensistive, warm-heartedness that we had in the original.
Not as good as the original, but not bad either.
