Review of Babe: Pig in the City (1998) by Barry N — 28 Mar 2011
I have noticed thoughout quite a bit of the reviews for this film that people either have a strong dislike for it, or people absolutely love it, and I am going to put myself in the latter category.
This is a magical and whimsical fantasy that is every bit as good as the original. Everything about this film is well done. I could see the effort that was put into this film. Every shot is beautiful, and the film is elegantly shot. This film emerses you in a world unlike any you've ever seen, with unforgetable characters and a joy.
I loved everything about this film. Some people claimed this movie wasn't as subtle as the original, but actually, I think it is even more subtle. The directing in this film is fantastic. There are a lot of things hidden in this film, but the thing that isn't hidden is the heart.
Let me make it clear though that this is not a film for kids. The film should've been rated PG, but this is a film for older kids and adults who have the heart of a kid. It's fantastically charming, quirky, and great. This film isn't just great filmmaking, it's great storytelling, and I enjoyed every second of it.
