Review of Awakenings (1990) by Andrew D — 18 Aug 2014
It's a highly moving film with remarkable performances. DeNiro and Robin Williams are so real and so compelling in this movie that I ended up crying. When DeNiro is awoken for the first time, it was so remarkably real.
There were a few things that could easily been improved. Some of the most profound lines were given to Julie Kavner's character but her delivery of them was often flat and anticlimactic. Overall, I would say that this movie was phenomenal in getting me to feel something -- something very powerful yet very simple.
