Review of Avenged Sevenfold: All Excess (2007) by Mim J — 06 Aug 2007
Avenged Sevenfold, or A7X has always been a guilty pleasure of mine considering I love classic sounding 80's metal (i.e. Iron Maiden, Dio, Guns 'N Roses, etc.). However, 'All Excess' feels less like a feature documentary on a band, and more so an excuse to bank off 14 year olds with allowance.
'AE' shows the band drinking it up non-stop, with little of much else. Avenged Sevenfold drinking 40's in a park chasing ducks? Why was this even made? The live footage is the best part of the DVD here, with the feature severly lacking in content, however even the live footage has severe editing flaws.
Band members go from wearing white outfits to black tee shirts and it's supposed to be the same song? Did the producers just not care? A7X hyped this film up quite a bit, but in all reality, 'AE' is basically just a time killer to hold off fans until another album.
At least you get to see M. Shadows singing with Korn...heh heh heh.
