Review of Avatar (2011) by Paul B — 28 Apr 2015
Less than five years after its initial theatrical release and age has been ruthless to Avatar already. The pointless overuse of special effects to keep this inexorably bad story and script afloat didn't make me feel as though I was watching the next step in visual film making, it made me feel as though I was watching a third rate Pixar film without the wit charm, likable characters, endearment, creativity, or emotionally involving storytelling.
So to reiterate, it's like a really bad animated movie that takes itself seriously.
