Review of Avanti (2012) by Anne F — 16 Jul 2011
Not the best Jack Lemmon film, or the best film directed by Bily Wilder, but this was still good fun. Jack Lemmon's straitlaced character's father has died in Italy, with, it transpires, his mistress.
He is determined to get his father's body out of Italy as quickly as possible, with as little scandal as possible, but obstacles are put in his way. On first viewing I found the film to be annoying Europhobic, but them realised that the Americans were also caricatured, it was pleasantly amusing.
