Review of Automaton Transfusion (2008) by Keven J — 14 Mar 2008
Exactly what you would expect. Not entirely bad, but there's not a lot of good here, either. It's a glorified Full Sail film, which is exactly what I expected going in to it. Zombie films have been done so much, it's impossible to reinvent them.
The camera work was iffy, and the cinematography was passable. The characters were cliche; you've got the hardcore kid, the black guy, the goofy chubby kid, the bitchy cheerleader, the nice cheerleader, and the arrogant jock.
Far from original, but it was at least entertaining for the most part, I'll give it that. Some good effects thanks to the skilled hands of Rick Gonzalez. Still though, the ending made me groan. It's good to see super-low-budget films getting distribution, but don't expect a reinvented wheel.
For what it is, it's a run-of-the-mill zombie flick. If you're in to those, you'll probably like this one. If you like Kevin O'Neill (he met Tom Hanks once) you'll probably like this.
I can't completely recommend it, but it's certainly not terrible.
