Review of Australia (2008) by Alison O — 14 Jun 2010
In this three act sprawling epic, Baz Luhrmann's love of theatrics is obvious, the director regularly staging scenes to look like they're taking place on a stage. With an 130 million budget at his disposal this is a high-gloss production, and no expense, or indeed time was spared to bring his vision to vivid and colourful life.
The viewer gets a real sense of the scope of Australia and it would take a heart-hearted person indeed to not be moved to tears at least once before the players take their final bows.
