Review of Auntie Mame (1958) by Stephen M — 21 Mar 2008
This may be the most perfect example of stage to screen transfers. It is so faithful to the play that there are times when you might think you are actually watching the play. It is wit and sophistication at its very best and if you see it and don't like it, that's ok. Nobody is going to judge you for it.
They will simply stop being friends with you.
For Auntie Mame lovers, that is the acid test. If you don't get Auntie Mame, then you don't get us.
